Accelerating transport connections in Redhills and Whenuapai

Auckland Council, including Auckland Transport and Watercare, have been allocated $300 million from the Housing Infrastructure Fund (HIF) to support major infrastructure projects in Redhills and Whenuapai in Auckland’s North West over the next 10 years.  The purpose of the HIF is to unlock and accelerate the delivery of bulk infrastructure to increase the supply of housing. In Auckland’s North West area, the HIF will be utilised in Redhills and Whenuapai.

The Supporting Growth team is undertaking more detailed investigations and preparing a Detailed Business Case which will make recommendations for route protection of the following key arterial transport networks in Redhills and Whenuapai:

  • Redhills east west connection from Nelson Road to Fred Taylor Drive
  • Redhills north south connection from the intersection of the east west connection to Royal Road
  • Within Whenuapai, the upgrade of Trig Road south of SH18, through to Hobsonville Road, and the upgrade of the intersection Hobsonville and Luckens Roads.

Next Steps

This year, the Supporting Growth team will continue to carry out the investigative work, start assessing potential alignments or routes for projects within these corridors and engage directly and early with potentially affected property owners to let them know the next steps. More information about the route protection process is available here(external link).
